Paul R. Martel, Founder and President
Paul R. Martel, President of YHB, in addition to managing client portfolios, also serves as Trustee for many clients and their families. Prior to establishing YHB, Paul was a vice president of CIGNA, a major multi-line insurer and provider of investment products and services. In their Individual Financial Division, he was responsible for the education of CIGNA staff and field force on investment issues, portfolio management, goal setting, and the role and use of investment securities. In this capacity, he designed and evaluated hundreds of individual and pension investment portfolios. Paul began his investment career in 1978 spending five years with a leading Wall Street firm where he gained broad experience in the stock and bond markets.
Paul has over 25 years of investment management experience. In his spare time, Paul served for many years as President and Board member of Healing the Children, NE. During this time, Paul organized 12 surgical teams traveling to Ecuador, Colombia, Guatemala and Paraguay to provide free surgical care for critically ill, needy children. In 2007, he founded Centro Medico Integral “Dulce Refugio,” a free children’s health clinic in Riobamba, Ecuador. Paul is also the author of “To the Least of These My Brothers,” a collection of essays about his humanitarian work. All proceeds support the work of the Center.
